Your First Protest

Today we went into London on the train to take you to your first protest. We went all the way to Waterloo Bridge where Extinction Rebellion had closed off the road to create a kind of peaceful festival. You loved it!

You walked across all the chalk messages on the road about saving our planet for the future. For your future.

You wore the Extinction Rebellion sign with a slogan: ‘Fight for My Future.’

You investigated all the lovely plants that had been put out in the road. And you watched as other children played. There was even a family area where children were making crafts.

Climate change is a real thing. The world is warming and it will cause lots of problems and extreme weather. We want you to know, Lily, that your mama and dada went to these protests and we understood what was happening. We really hope the world can understand too so that you have a bright future. It can happen! The protests today gave us hope. Even you, were ready to camp out…

You love playing in the garden and in nature. You deserve a wild and beautiful planet. There are people out there sharing the message peacefully and happily. Today you were one of them. Imagine…
