Your Fairy Godparents

Lily, you are so lucky. This week your mama and dada’s good friends Peter and Paula came to visit for 2 days. We met them in Ecuador (although they are from Newcastle really) and we asked them if they could be your godparents! They came in their van, which they slept in out the front, and immediately you warmed to them. It was meant to be!

Paula is a really lovely lady. She used to teach Maths in secondary school. She is very wise and likes to research about spiritual matters. She looked up your numerology. You’re a 9, Lily, which apparently means you’re very special (which you are) and that you have the ability to change the world (quite possibly!). Paula thinks deeply about the world and is really caring and kind. She’s going to be a perfect Godmother to you!

Peter has a heart of gold. When we asked if he and Paula could be your godparents, he started crying. He was so touched. Peter worked for a bit as dada’s teaching assistant in his class in Ecuador. He’s a very funny man, and made you giggle. He’s also very caring and kind too. He even mended a broken lock on the back door without mama and Dada even knowing! With typical humour, he said he was overjoyed to be your Fairy-Godfather!

Peter and Paula are grounded people, who have big hearts, humour and intelligence. We are so pleased they accepted to be your godparents! We will have to visit Newcastle!

They run a Vegan Curry Van. Maybe one day, Lily, you’re get to eat one of their fabulous curries!!

Light Up the World

Lily, you light up your dada’s world.

After a hard week teaching Year 6 you have brightened my Friday by all your wiggles and smiles. Mama was out of the front of the house, holding you, as I slowly came down the road. As soon as you saw me you wiggled, smiled and made noises of excitement. It makes everything worthwhile.

Today, while dada was working hard, mama took you to baby sensory. You loved it. You were entranced by all the lights…

Those wires of lights are like the wires in your brain making all these brilliant connections. You’re such a clever one. Even if you do end up chewing everything…

Dada can’t wait to come to baby sensory with you, but that will have to be in half term, when dada isn’t being ‘bizzzy’ or busy. You keep giggling when dada says ‘bizzzzzzy’ close to your face, while blowing raspberries on your neck. You’re the best!

You light up the world. Xxx

Happy

Today mama took you to the pediatrician and dietician. They were absolutely astonished by your crawling at 6 months. Your weight has gone down a bit again. But they’re not worried as it’s just because you’re so active. And happy being so. We just need to feed you up even more.

Here you are. Happy. And enjoying chewing Mama’s phone. Apparently you watched this yourself and found it funny. You are silly, Lily!

Cows and guitars

At the moment you’re interested in everything, Lily. You’re crawling everywhere. Past the living sofa to the dining room. Over the grass in Nenny’s garden. And last week I walked you around Aldenham Country Park, where you saw a cow for the first time…

Don’t worry what WTF means. You’ll learn one day. Basically it means you were shocked.

You’ve also started to love riding on a rocking cow that was given by your Mama’s cousin. You make happy gurgles and sit up as you ride Ophelia the Cow, as we have named her…

As well as crawling you have started to pull yourself up to see things. We think you’re some crazy genius because you’re only 6 months. Look at you pulling yourself up on dada. Here…

And here, stroking your favourite man. Luther Vandross. He always calms you down. Good old Luther…

We think you must be really musical. It runs in the family. You love to hear dada’s guitar. I’ve let you stroke the strings and you find that acoustic reverb wondrous. In fact, you keep crawling over to the guitar. You can’t help yourself. So dada has had to pick it up and show you…

You’re just so fascinated by everything. Cows. Guitars. You name it. Even seeing dada after work, you kick your legs and smile, beaming. It melts my heart.

No wonder you pass out while dada feeds you dinner. Bless you. Our cutie…

Crawling and…

Lily, you’re crawling! And you’ve just turned 6 months. After all the hard times, this is brilliant! You love getting on your hands and knees and moving across the carpet. One time you crawled all the way from the front door to the dining room to see your dada!

Here’s a video of your amazing crawling. You are just so active and interested in everything!

Recently, your mama took you to a baby sensory class at the local church hall. At one point all the lights were dimmed and the other babies were shushed to sleep in the middle on 2 inflatable mattresses. But you, Lily, decided to crawl in the dark and stroke some baby’s face instead…

You are trouble.

Sometimes you crawl and end up in difficult places now. In fact, it seems you want to explore all the corners and danger zones. When dada, me, has left for work (yeah I’ve gone back to working at school – as a phase leader now in Year 6) you tried to crawl to the door to follow me out…

Although you may be crawling you can also sit. You don’t like this as much as being active though.

You’ve been developing so well. A couple of weeks ago you went to a wedding. Your dada was best man and everyone said how well behaved you were and how cute. At the reception you ate a crumpet and when dada did his speech you made a noise of excitement. But everyone adored you.

Here’s a lovely photo of you and your beautiful mama. What a brilliant little girl you are becoming…
